Aibiike Alymova is a passionate storyteller and final-year Communications and Media Studies student at Thompson Rivers University. Originally from Kyrgyzstan, she moved to Canada in 2021 to pursue her degree, driven by a lifelong love for sharing people’s stories, whether through journalism or digital media.
She has spent the last two years as the sports editor for Omega News, TRU’s student newspaper, and gained hands-on broadcasting experience as a game day operator at Radio NL during Kamloops Blazers games. Her deep involvement in the journalism and communications community led her to become a peer mentor in her second year, which evolved into co-chairing the TRUSU Journalism and Communications Club for the past two years.
Beyond journalism, Aibiike is dedicated to cultural representation and leadership. As the president of the TRUSU Central Asian Student Association, she actively promotes and shares her heritage on campus. Her strengths lie in storytelling, community engagement, and fostering meaningful conversations—making her a dynamic communicator with a unique perspective.
